Mohsen Abou El Azm is considered Egypt's leading social expressionist. Born in 1958 in Fayoum, Mohsen Abou El Azm received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Helwan University in 1981. After his graduation, Abou El Azm worked for Rose Al Yusuf magazine. He traveled abroad to work for the Ministry of Education in Libya and in 1982 also worked for the Benghazi Arab Culture Magazine as a painter of journalism.
He was a lecturer in Tabuk, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia from 1987 to 1996. While working in Saudi Arabia, he held his own exhibition at the Fine Artist Syndicate in Egypt in 1992 and 1994. In 1996 he returned to Egypt and worked for Sabah Al Kheir Magazine and Rose Al Yusuf Magazine. He worked as a painter at Aladdin Magazine (Al Ahram Foundation).
He worked briefly in the Akhbar Al Youm newspaper. He has made acquisitions in Arab countries, Europe and the United States. His exhibitions include: Exhibitions at Salama Gallery 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2008. Exhibitions at Picasso Gallery 2000, 2002, 2003. Group exhibition at Droub Gallery 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004. A special exhibition at The American University in April 2004. A special exhibition at the Opera House Music Library in May 2010.
A special exhibition at the Beirut Book Fair held in Lebanon in September 2014. Exhibitions at Art Corner Gallery and Azad Art Gallery in 2015 and 2020, and “The Icon of the Egyptian Spirit” Exhibition at Liwan Gallery.
