Aziz Yousef (1924), He was born in Minya and specialized in painting. He obtained a diploma from the Higher School of Fine Arts, Painting Department, in Cairo in 1950, followed by a diploma from the Higher Institute of Education in 1951 and a special diploma in education from Ain Shams University in 1956. He also completed studies in folk and Islamic art at the Academy of Fine Arts in Zagreb, Yugoslavia, in 1957. He was a member of several artistic institutions, including the Association of Drawing and Handicraft Professors in Cairo, the Syndicate of Fine Artists, and the Artists and Writers Association “Atelier” in Alexandria. He held several positions, working as an art supervisor at the People’s University before becoming an art teacher and eventually a senior art education inspector at the Alexandria Central Educational Administration.
Aziz Yousef held numerous solo exhibitions that reflected his artistic journey and creativity. His first exhibition was the Refugees Exhibition in Qantara East in 1951, followed by an exhibition at Shell Club in Suez in 1952. His works were also displayed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Alexandria in 1959. He collaborated with the late artist Wadie Shenouda in two exhibitions, one at the Alexandria Atelier in 1961 and another at the Museum of Fine Arts in Alexandria in 1962.
He participated in the “Current Events” exhibition at the YMCA in Alexandria in 1968 and presented several exhibitions at the Soviet Cultural Center in 1968, 1970, and 1972. He also held an exhibition at Akhenaten Hall on Qasr El-Nil Street in Cairo in 1971 and another at the Museum of Fine Arts in Alexandria in 1976. His works were later displayed at the Gezira Art Center in Zamalek in 1987, and he concluded his series of solo exhibitions with one at the Alexandria Atelier in 1990. The artist participated in numerous local group exhibitions, displaying his works at the ”Contemporary Artists” exhibition at the Egypt-Europe Association Hall in Alexandria in 1951. He also took part in the Cairo Salon and Alexandria Salon, the Spring Exhibitions of the Fine Arts Graduates Association, and the Cairo Salon of the Friends of Fine Arts Association. His presence was notable in the exhibitions of the Association of Drawing and Handicraft Professors from 1965 to 1969, as well as in the “Africa and National Liberation Revolution” exhibition at the Teachers Syndicate in Cairo in 1966. He also participated in the High dam exhibition in Cairo and the “Art and Work” exhibition at Bab El-Louk Hall.
Additionally, he took part in the “Odessa” exhibition for Alexandria artists in 1966, the annual general exhibition of fine arts at the Socialist Union building in Cairo in 1970, and the “Gamal Abdel Nasser Memorial” exhibition at the Central Committee of the Socialist Union in 1972. Furthermore, he participated in various editions of the Alexandria Biennale and the “Alexandrian Visions” exhibition at the Nile Hall in Cairo in 1989.
