Sayed Mohamed Sayed (1931 - 2013), A free visual artist and contractor, was born in Cairo and lived in the neighborhoods of Khalifa, Darb Al-Ahmar, and Helmiya. He passed away on March 17, 2013. Specializing in painting, he participated in numerous solo exhibitions, including those at Gezira Youth Center (1966-1967), the German Cultural Center (1966), the Museum of Modern Art in East Germany (1966), the Egyptian Museum of Modern Art, Welalat Al-Ghouri (1968-1971), Puppet Theater (1969), Gezira Youth Care Center (1973), Atelier Cairo (1973, 1980), the French Cultural Center (1975), Bab Al-Luq Fine Arts Hall (1977), the Spanish Cultural Center (1982), Suez Canal at the Opera House (1983, 1984), Al-Salam Hall (1983, 1986), Al-Nile Hall (1989), and various competitions and exhibitions between 1986 and 1991.
His works were also exhibited at the Round Hall of the Syndicate of Fine Artists in Gezira (1989, 1990), the Egyptian Center for International Cultural Cooperation (1994), Atelier Alexandria (1997), Al-Nile (2) Hall (1998), Al-Ghouri Agency Association (1998), the Egyptian Center for International Cultural Cooperation in Zamalek (1999), Atelier Cairo (2000), the Round Hall of the Syndicate of Fine Artists (2003), the Criticism and Creativity Center at Ahmed Shawqi Museum (2004), the Journalists’ Syndicate (2005), and Mohamed Nagi Hall at Atelier Cairo (2009). He participated in many local group exhibitions, including the High Dam Exhibition at the Soviet Cultural Center (1968), the Executive Center at the Socialist Union in Qasr Al-Nil (1969), the Arab Youth Ministry Exhibition (1970), the General Exhibition (1983-1986), the South Sinai Exhibition (1983, 1984), the Nature and Heritage Exhibition (1984), the Fine Arts Lovers Salon (1984), the Charitable Association Exhibition (1984, 1985), Cairo in the Eyes of Artists Exhibition (1986), the Egypt-Alexandria Salon (1986), the Al-Ghouri Artists Association Exhibition at Meridian (1986), the Beni Suef and Minya Governorate Exhibition (1987), the Bosnia and Herzegovina Victims Charity Exhibition (1992), “Selections from Contemporary Egyptian Art” at the 11th Conference of Non-Aligned Foreign Ministers in Cairo (1994), “Earthquake Effects” at the Fine Artists Syndicate (1996), “Egyptian Features” at Riach Hall in Cairo (1997, 1999), the Mass Culture Exhibition at the Arts Palace in Ismailia, the National Exhibition of Fine Arts (1999, 2001, 2005), the Annual Salon of Atelier Cairo (2003), the Fourth Honoring Exhibition for artists born between 1888 and 1935 at the Museum of Modern Egyptian Art (2006), the Honorary Exhibition for artists who exhibited at the Round Hall (2003-2006), the Second Fine Arts Creativity Festival (2008), the Acquisitions Exhibition at the Museum of Fine Arts in Alexandria (2008), the Third Fine Arts Creativity Festival (2009), the Fourth Fine Arts Creativity Festival (2010), and the Group Exhibition at Doroub Hall in Garden City (2010).
He also participated in international group exhibitions, including the Alexandria Biennale for Mediterranean Countries (13th Edition, 1980) and an exhibition in Spain (1982). He conducted artistic visits within Egypt, Italy and Spain . His works are privately owned by individuals inside and outside Egypt and are also part of official collections at the Museum of Modern Art in East Germany (1966), the Egyptian Museum of Modern Art in Cairo, the Suez Canal Authority, the Cairo Opera House, the National Bank of Egypt, the Conference Hall, Nasser Museum, Minya Museum, and Qatar Museum.
