Marie Louise(1923 - 2016), She began her painting career in 1956 as a student of Maestro Silvio Bicchi in her native Alexandria. She specialized in rural street scenes of Cairo and Alexandria, depicting in her own style the typical alleys of El Attarine district crowded with people and donkey carts, portraits of Bedouin women and peasants in their fields. Landscapes of palm trees and feluccas along the Nile, women carrying baskets or water jars on their heads, scenes of the Khan Khalil Bazaar and beaches in Montazah and Agami, it was Marie Louise’s beloved world and she painted it with passion. She exhibited her work successfully in Art Shows in Alexandria and Cairo, in France and Cyprus and ultimately in the USA. Marie Louise died on 2016 at the age of 93. Her memory lives on through her art as her paintings hang on the walls of dozens of homes throughout the world. She will be remembered as the artist who painted Egypt as she saw it, vibrant, noisy, colorful and beautiful.
